The International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC) is a worldwide network of organisations that document, promote, and/or provide in-depth information about the music of their country or region. IAMIC has been in existence for over 60 years and has currently 37 members from 33 countries.
Every year the members meet for a conference to exchange information about their work. In 2020 the meeting will take place in Germany for the first time in 20 years. From 1 to 5 June, IAMIC members will come together in Bonn, Beethoven’s native city, to talk about structures of musical life and discuss recent developments. The German Music Information Centre is very happy to
host the conference and to be able to welcome many colleagues from music information centres all over the world.
A public conference day on 3 June will focus on “Musical Life at the Crossroads between Tradition and the Future”, based on five topics: contemporary music and the promotion of composers, orchestras and programme planning, audience development and music outreach, authors’ rights and music distribution, and music cultures and society. Numerous experts from concert halls, orchestras and music organisations will discuss these topics and inform on current developments in presentations.
Guests include Nike Wagner, Artistic Director of the Bonn Beethoven Festival, Benedikt Stampa, Artistic Director of Baden-Baden Festival Hall and Head of the German Concert Hall Conference, Christian Höppner, General Secretary of the German Music Council, and Christiane Engelbrecht, Managing Director of the International Ensemble Modern Academy.
We warmly invite you to participate. Get an impression on musical life in Germany and give us your idea on perspectives for the future. We are very much looking forward to meeting you.
