John Davis is CEO of the Australian Music Centre, a position he has held since July 1995. He has lead the organisation through its transition into operating primarily in the digital space, and he has secured its role as a provider of retail/distribution services, education services, and as a delivery vehicle for artist development projects.

He holds a Master's degree in Creative Arts (Music Composition) from Wollongong University, and has previously worked as a performer (jazz and classical), composer, and administrator. He has been active in international networks, serving as Vice-President of the International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC) from 1998 to 2003, and several terms on the Executive Committee of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM), including as President (2008-2013).

He lives on Awabakal land at Lake Macquarie, 2 hours north of Sydney.
