Viola Boddin

Association of German Music Schools in North Rhine-Westphalia

Viola Boddin is a project consultant at the Association of German Music Schools in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) where she is committed to the intercultural opening of music schools. She manages the project "Heimat: Musik" (www.heimat-musik.de), with currently 170 offers for refugees at music schools in NRW. In addition, she does a lot of networking in the area of ​​intercultural education, offers training events for music schools and organises specialist conferences.

Viola Boddin studied business administration at the University of Cologne with a focus on media and technology management and marketing and market research. She has been working in cultural management since her time at the university. The interdisciplinary work of cultural policy, cultural education and cultural management is very important to her:  In all her work she pursues the goal of reducing barriers and promoting diversity.

True, musical life in different countries and regions is still shaped by specific traditions, but changes can be felt everywhere. What effects do processes of migration and globalisation have on musical life? What are the recognisable trends in Germany and elsewhere? And: how can music help to promote integration?
